Art & Design
At Bousfield, Art is a vibrant and integral part of our curriculum. Our pupils develop skills, creativity and confidence year by year, producing work of a standard that consistently impresses visitors. Many of our children’s pieces have been showcased beyond the classroom, including in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, demonstrating the high level of talent nurtured at the school.

Art is woven throughout our curriculum, both in dedicated lessons and during annual curriculum weeks, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore a wide range of media, techniques and artistic ideas. Every September, we create a communal piece of art as a whole school, celebrating community, togetherness and the start of the academic year. Our school also hosts an art exhibition open to the public every other year, giving children the pride and experience of displaying their work for a wider audience.

In lessons, pupils learn about influential artists and study their techniques, styles and approaches. Art is celebrated in our assemblies as well, with an “Art of the Week” feature that highlights art history and sparks inspiration across the school.

Through creating and studying art, children develop not only technical skills but also creativity, critical thinking and self-expression. Our aim is that every child leaves Bousfield with a strong artistic foundation, a love of creativity, and the confidence to continue exploring art throughout their lives.
